Semiconductor Equipment Job Classifications
Production Maintenance Technician:
PMT’s shall, at a minimum, be qualified technicians capable of supervised performance of on-site service and production maintenance of semi-conductor processing equipment. Responsibilities of the PMT include without limitation troubleshooting equipment related production maintenance problems, maintaining records and reports as required by OEM/CLIENT, interaction with OEM/CLIENT Customers and participation in meetings as needed, and performance of Services in a clean room environment. PMT’s must possess mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity. Requires minimum knowledge in electronics engineering or equivalent training and 0-1 years experience maintaining comparable equipment. Must be capable of attending OEM Level training and certification.
Level 1:
The qualifications of at least a PMT and the following qualifications: a basic understanding of the electronics and technology used in semiconductor processing equipment; incumbents are expected to become familiar with equipment, industry/customer practices and procedures; performs basic maintenance activities seeking assistance as needed; attends appropriate training as required or assigned; and performs other related duties as required. Requires Certificate Level C in electronics/electrical engineering or equivalent training and 1-2 years experience installing, repairing or maintaining comparable equipment. OEM certified training and certification with 1-2 years experience is acceptable.
Level 2:
A technician with at least the qualifications of Level 1 and the following qualifications: capable of resolving routine to moderately complex equipment problems and preventive maintenance issues; incumbents have a good understanding of industry standards and protocol of working in a clean room environment; meets with customers to identify outstanding issues with operation, output, or system requirements; and, performs other related duties as required. Requires 2-5 years of industry experience installing, repairing or maintaining complex equipment used in the semiconductor industry and a demonstrated competency to independently perform all aspects of the job function. * Level 3: A technician with at least the qualifications of Level 2 and the following qualifications: capable of resolving complex equipment problems and preventive maintenance issues; thorough understanding of customer issues and industry practices; often participates in customer-based meeting pertaining to maintenance and system operations of assigned tools and, performs other related duties as required. Capable of supervising and training others. Requires 5 - 10 years of semiconductor industry experience installing, repairing or maintaining comparable equipment as that assigned.
